Deployed Source commit 4a1ca5a0c520
v2026.10.115Latest
Choose class type to control Hub quizzes
CBT classes use Hub labs without quizzes; instructor-led classes follow each module’s quiz setting.
Added
Choose Instructor-led or CBT / Self-paced when creating or editing a class. Existing classes default to Instructor-led.
Changed
CBT hides Hub module quizzes and excludes them from progress, completion and module unlock requirements. Instructor-led follows each published module’s quiz setting. Saved lab work and quiz history are retained when changing class type.
v2026.10.114
Show the destination module in the quiz result button
Quiz results show Next Module followed by the destination title.
Changed
The Student Portal quiz results button includes the destination module, for example Next Module: Architecture. Existing navigation, save and prerequisite checks are retained.
v2026.10.113
Keep the quiz result button label concise
The compact results panel shows Next module without joining the module title to the label.
Fixed
The Student Portal quiz results button reads Next module. Its destination and existing save and prerequisite checks remain unchanged.
v2026.10.112
Use the compact bottom panel for quiz actions
Student Portal quizzes use the lab’s compact bottom panel, with only Next module on results.
Changed
Student Portal quizzes use the same compact bottom panel as labs for Submit answer, Next question and View result. The separate large quiz action bar is hidden, with scroll clearance keeping feedback readable. The results screen shows only the existing Next module action when available, retaining its save and prerequisite checks.
Fixed
Synchronize the portal with the authored module’s active tab and prevent overlapping bottom bars. Lab controls return when switching back to Lab.
v2026.10.111
Quiz actions stay visible on short screens
Submit answer, Next question and View result use a sticky quiz action bar.
Changed
Quiz action buttons stay visible at the bottom of the quiz area on short screens. Feedback and answer choices have scroll clearance above the bar, and moving to the next question brings it below pinned page headers. Submission, retry, grading and attempt limits remain unchanged.
v2026.10.110
Quiz score dials show pass or not passed
Quiz result rings use green for a pass and amber for not passed.
Changed
Completed quiz score dials use the saved pass/fail result to color the ring green or amber. Result text, passing threshold marker, score calculation and animation remain unchanged; colors adapt to light and dark themes.
v2026.10.109
Simpler module start screen
The Before you start section no longer repeats the briefing and reference instruction.
Changed
Removed the shared instruction paragraph from Before you start in every module. The heading and acknowledgement checkbox remain.
v2026.10.108
Lab Automation progress refreshes automatically
Student System Progress and active access blocks refresh automatically while Lab Automation is open.
Changed
Lab Automation reloads saved results every 10 seconds while visible, picking up scheduled and manual poll results without clicking Refresh. Background tabs pause refreshing; temporary background refresh failures keep the last displayed results.
v2026.10.107
Import modules from Word, on staging and production
Import from Word is now available everywhere, not only on staging. Staging and production run this same release.
Added
Module editor: Import from Word creates or replaces a module draft (with its quiz, answer keys and pictures) from a filled-in module template; Check document lists problems first, and importing never publishes. The template downloads from the dialog.
Changed
Production and staging run the same code: 2026.10.105 plus the Word import (2026.10.96 to 2026.10.98).
v2026.10.106
Staging build: Firefox fix with Word import
Combines 2026.10.105 (Classes & Learners in Firefox, archived classes shown) with the staging-only Word import.
Changed
Staging only: includes 2026.10.105 together with Import from Word.
v2026.10.105
Classes & Learners works in Firefox; archived classes shown
The Classes & Learners tables show their columns in Firefox again, and archived classes are listed by default.
Fixed
Firefox: the class and learner tables were pushed off screen (a page-wide minimum table width that Firefox resolved to millions of pixels). The tables now size themselves in every browser.
Changed
Classes & Learners shows archived classes by default, with their Archived label; turn off Show archived to hide them.
v2026.10.104
Staging build: Classes & Learners parity with Word import
Combines 2026.10.103 (every retired-tab feature in Classes & Learners) with the staging-only Word import.
Changed
Staging only: includes 2026.10.103 together with Import from Word.
v2026.10.103
Classes & Learners has every Classes & Rosters and Learning Paths feature
Everything the retiring Classes & Rosters and Learning Paths tabs offered now works in Classes & Learners, and every link that opened them opens Classes & Learners.
Added
Classes: check-in code with Copy and generate, activate, deactivate or regenerate; seats open; Open registration, Current and Show archived filters; Delete class; Publish, Hide, Archive, Unarchive and Delete for the ticked classes.
Learners: Promote to enrolled, Move to waitlist, Add to another class, Move to class, Reinstate, Reset learning data and Delete, with the same conditions as before; Email, Move to class, Cancel registrations and Delete for the ticked learners; Email shown; Course and Submitted columns; Student Progress.
Exports: roster CSV for the selected classes and Learning Path CSV (learners shown, or all learners in the selected classes).
Learning Path alert details (Show details) and Show those classes.
Changed
The summary cards, Review alerts, links with a class (?session_id=) and old Learning Paths links open Classes & Learners.
v2026.10.102
Staging build: Training Management tabs with Word import
Combines 2026.10.101 (Classes & Learners as the main tab) with the staging-only Word import.
Changed
Staging only: includes 2026.10.101 together with Import from Word.
v2026.10.101
Classes & Learners is the main Training Management tab
Classes & Learners is now a standard tab for everyone and opens first. The Classes & Rosters and Learning Paths tabs are hidden, and the tabs are in A to Z order.
Changed
Training Management opens on Classes & Learners, which is no longer a preview. Tabs: Classes & Learners, Lab Automation, Requests.
The Classes & Rosters and Learning Paths tabs are hidden; their screens still open from shortcuts such as Review alerts.
Fixed
Create class, Add learner and Import CSV now open from the Classes & Learners tab, and Classes & Learners refreshes after a CSV import.
v2026.10.100
Staging build: completion note with Word import
Combines the custom completion note for the Module 6 incident (2026.10.99) with the staging-only Word import (2026.10.96 to 2026.10.98).
Changed
Staging only: includes the Module 6 incident completion note (2026.10.99) together with Import from Word.
v2026.10.99
Custom completion note for the Module 6 incident
Lab automation rules for the Module 6 incident can set their own completion note instead of always using Network Outage. The incident ends when a student's event note contains that text.
Added
Training Management, lab automation: a Completion note field on student-system rules (default Network Outage). Restore after shows the note the rule waits for.
Changed
The Module 6 incident now ends when a student's event note contains the completion note (any capitalization), not only when the note matches it exactly.
v2026.10.98
Word import keeps formatting after a tag
Bold, italic and underlined text on the same line as a tag, such as [Callout: Good to know] or [Briefing], is now kept when a module is imported from Word.
Fixed
Staging only: Word import no longer drops formatting on the rest of a tag's line when the tag itself is bold, as it is in the module template.
v2026.10.97
Word import keeps modules exactly as stored
Importing a module from Word now brings back formatted content, sub-headings, nested lists and steps after questions exactly as the editor stores them, and unchanged quiz questions keep their identity.
Changed
Staging only: Word import keeps the order of paragraphs, sub-headings (Heading 4) and nested bullet lists inside a box, and stores plain content as plain text like the editor does.
A numbered list inside a lab task is always its steps, also right after a question; a paragraph at the start of a task becomes a text block.
New [Text] tag starts a text block after a box or between questions. The template's cheat sheet lists it.
Replacing a draft keeps the identity of unchanged quiz questions and choices, so an unchanged quiz does not start a new quiz version.
v2026.10.96
Import modules from Word (staging)
Staff on staging can create or replace a module draft from a filled-in Word template, including its quiz, answer keys and pictures. Imports are saved as drafts and never published.
Added
Staging only: Import from Word in the module editor. Check document lists any problems with where they are; Import as draft saves the module and its quiz as drafts. Nothing changes for learners until you publish.
Replacing a draft keeps the IDs of unchanged steps and questions, so learners' saved answers carry forward after publishing, and warns before removing anything Word cannot bring in.
Pictures in an imported document are stored by the Hub and shown to staff and checked-in learners.
Changed
The module copy tool copies the stored pictures a module uses and refuses to copy a module whose pictures are missing.
v2026.10.95
Test student sign-in on staging; reliable quick saves
Staff on staging can open the Student Portal as the staging test learner without the class code, and saving a module twice in quick succession no longer leaves the editor busy.
Added
Staging only: signed-in staff see Sign in as the staging test student on the check-in page, and Open as test student in the module editor's More menu (opens that module). It uses the normal check-in checks and is unavailable on production.
Fixed
Saving a module again right after a save no longer leaves the editor stuck on busy. The quiz is saved only when it has unsaved changes, and a quiz save that does not answer within 20 seconds stops with a message instead of waiting forever. Quiz edits are still saved with Save changes.
v2026.10.94
Outline follows what you edit
The module editor's outline now highlights the block you are editing, and otherwise the block just under the tabs, without jumping.
Fixed
Clicking into or typing in a field highlights that block in the outline (or its question, task or section), instead of whatever was at the top of the screen.
When you are not editing, the outline highlights the block right under the sticky tabs, measured from the tabs' real position; since the tabs became sticky it had been pointing a little too high.
The outline keeps its own scroll position when it refreshes while you type.
v2026.10.93
Lab overview link works
The Lab overview link in the side panel opens the lab's briefing and reference, and part links open that part's first task.
Fixed
Clicking the lab's first section (for example Lab overview) in the side panel now opens the lab start screen with the briefing and reference, instead of staying on the current task. Clicking a part opens its first task when it is unlocked; a locked part leaves the learner where they are.
Changed
The start screen's button follows progress: Start lab before any task is done, Continue lab (to the first unfinished task) once started, and Back to lab summary when the lab is complete. Its status line shows progress the same way.
v2026.10.92
Tidier end of reading-only modules
A completed reading-only module shows just the Next module button and one Module complete line, without a disabled Module complete button.
Fixed
Once a reading-only module (completed with Complete module) is done, its disabled Module complete button no longer stays under the Next module button, and Module complete is shown once instead of twice. Modules with a lab or quiz were not affected.
v2026.10.91
Shorter course banner
The Student Portal banner and tab row take about a third less height on laptops and desktops, and fit tablets and phones without overlaps.
Changed
The greeting, date and time share one line, and Quiz average and Course Progress each fit on one line. On a laptop or desktop the banner plus tab row is about 114px tall instead of about 174px; nothing was removed.
Desktop tabs are 36px tall; phones keep the larger 44px touch size.
On tablets the metrics take their own line under the tabs so they never run into them. Checked at MacBook, laptop, iPad landscape and portrait, iPad mini and phone sizes for all three courses (Operator, Power User and Administrator Practitioner).
v2026.10.90
Cleaner course banner
The Student Portal banner shows the product logo and the course title on one line without repeating the product name.
Changed
The course banner reads as logo | course, for example the Skylar One logo, a divider, then Operator Practitioner. The product name is dropped from the title only when the logo already shows it; screen readers still hear the full course name. On phones the logo sits above the title.
The browser tab title, Learning Path, emails and certificates keep the full course name.
v2026.10.89
One way to the quiz from the lab
The Lab tab no longer shows a separate Continue to Quiz button under the lab; the lab's own Go to the quiz is the only one.
Fixed
On the Lab tab, the Continue to Quiz button below the lab no longer appears on the last task or the Lab complete screen, where it duplicated Go to the quiz and confused learners. On the Study Guide and Study Notes tabs, Continue to Lab or Continue to Quiz still shows when that is the next step.
v2026.10.88
Sticky editor tabs; resizable side panel
In the module editor, the Lab, Quiz, Study Guide and Study Notes tabs stay in view while scrolling, and the side panel is wider and resizable.
Changed
The module editor tabs stay pinned under the action bar while you scroll.
The side panel (modules and outline) is wider by default and can be resized by dragging the handle beside it, or with the arrow keys when the handle has focus. Double-click the handle to reset. The width is remembered per browser.
Outline entries wrap to two lines instead of being cut off, and the outline no longer scrolls sideways.
v2026.10.87
Notes in Check your understanding
Text, Note and Important blocks can now go between questions in a Check your understanding group.
Added
Module editor: inside Check your understanding, Add block now offers Text, Note and Important alongside the question types. Notes show in place for learners and do not change question numbering, completion or answer marking. Other block types are still not allowed there.
v2026.10.86
Easier module editor
The module editor has an outline to jump around, folded blocks that say what they hold, an answer-key check, a tidier action bar and less empty space. Saved content is unchanged.
Added
Outline under the module list: sections, blocks and questions of the current tab. Click to jump (it opens what you click), find text in the tab, Expand all and Collapse all, and drag sections or blocks to reorder them within their list. The outline follows where you are.
Answer-key check in the action bar, for example 2 questions need an answer key. Each click jumps to the next one.
Folded blocks show what they hold: a table's columns and row count, a task's steps and questions, a question's text with Key set or Key missing.
Ctrl+S or Cmd+S saves the working copy.
Changed
Compare, Export, Restore previous version and Discard changes moved into a More menu; Save, Preview, Publish and Student view stay on the bar.
The course picker, Export course and a folded How publishing works note share one row at the top.
Questions and steps inside a task start folded. Insert block controls between blocks appear on hover or keyboard focus, and each list ends with one Add block button.
The module list is more compact while a module is open, so the outline has room.
v2026.10.85
Lab title setting renamed
In the module editor, the Lab headings checkbox for the first lab section now reads Show the lab title.
Changed
Module editor, Lab headings: Show the first lab section's title is now Show the lab title. It works the same way.
v2026.10.84
Lab headings setting; shorter locked tiles
Three lab headings are hidden by default and can each be shown per module from the module editor, and locked module tiles just say Locked.
Added
Module editor: a Lab headings setting with one checkbox each for the Lab briefing · N tasks line on the lab start screen, the The lab label, and the first lab section's title. All three are hidden unless turned on; save and publish to apply.
Changed
The lab no longer shows those three headings by default. The side panel task list still lists the first lab section.
Locked module tiles just say Locked; hovering shows which module to complete first.
v2026.10.83
Lab saves keep working on long-open pages; slimmer module tiles
Learner saves no longer fail with Not saved, edit to retry after an hour on the same page, and the Course modules tiles are slimmer.
Fixed
Lab answers, notes, quiz answers and module completion kept failing with Not saved, edit to retry once a page had been open for over an hour, until the learner refreshed. Security tokens now last as long as a learner check-in (12 hours).
If a save is still rejected for an out-of-date token (for example the browser session changed), the page fetches a fresh token and retries once, only while the same learner is checked in to the same module version.
When the check-in has really ended, the save says so (refresh and check in again) instead of the vague retry message, and what the learner typed stays on the page.
Changed
Course modules tiles are slimmer: module name, one progress line (for example 10/19 done · 9 left, or 20/20 done · Quiz 40%) and a thin progress bar. The estimated lab time is no longer shown on the tile.
Every tile has a light border, and the task list chevron sits beside the percentage.
v2026.10.82
Collapsible module task list
The current module's task list opens and closes from a chevron on its tile and starts closed.
Changed
The current module's tile in Course modules has a chevron that shows or hides its task list. The list starts closed, so only the tile shows; the In this module header row is gone.
A learner who opens the list keeps it open across modules (remembered in that browser).
v2026.10.81
Next module after the quiz; lab-only module list
Next module shows only on the Quiz tab once the quiz is done, the In this module list shows lab exercises only, and the Study Guide drops its The guide label.
Changed
Next module appears only on the Quiz tab after the quiz is submitted, not on the Lab or Study Guide tabs. A module without a quiz shows it once the module is finished.
Once Next module shows, the bottom progress bar stops floating, so it can never cover the button.
The In this module list in the side panel shows lab exercises only (no Guide entries).
The Study Guide starts with its section title; the The guide label above it is gone.
v2026.10.80
Clearer end of lab and module
The end of a lab leads straight to the quiz, a finished module shows a filled Next module button, and the Hide modules button stays on screen while scrolling.
Changed
At the end of a lab the bottom bar's main button reads Go to the quiz (no greyed-out Next task button); the Lab complete card no longer has its own quiz button. A module without a quiz shows no main button there.
The Next module button in published modules appears only once the module is finished and is filled in the accent colour, so it reads as the next step. Before that, learners move between modules from the left panel.
The Hide modules / Show modules button moved into the pinned module bar beside the tabs, so it stays reachable while scrolling, and has a cleaner pill style. It is hidden on phones.
Reading-only modules keep their Complete module button and stay on the page after completing.
v2026.10.79
Hide the module list; quieter module cards; matching marks
Learners can hide the Course modules panel, the Next module card appears only once a module is finished, answer marks use the quiz colours, and the task list shows finished tasks on every tab.
Added
A button beside the module title hides or shows the Course modules panel on desktop, so the lesson can use the full width. The choice is remembered.
Changed
Published modules no longer show a Previous module card, and the Next module card appears only after the module's lab and quiz are complete (reading-only modules keep Complete and next module).
Correct and incorrect marks on lab answers use the same light green and red as quiz results, and both adapt to dark mode.
Fixed
A finished module that opens on its Quiz or Study Guide now shows its lab tasks as done in the left panel, without opening the Lab first.
v2026.10.78
SVG icons in labs and the module editor
Labs, quizzes, the lesson page and the module editor use SVG icons only; no emoji or text-symbol icons remain there.
Changed
Correct and Not quite, quiz results, task Complete labels, Back and Next, navigation paths, external links, module-complete marks and the previous/next module cards use SVG icons.
Module editor Up and Down, Student view and its links use SVG icons.
A test fails if a symbol or emoji icon is added back to these screens.
v2026.10.77
Task header stays in view; quiz lock explained on demand
Moving between lab tasks keeps the task header and progress bar below the bars pinned at the top of the window, and the Quiz locked message appears only when someone tries the locked Quiz tab.
Fixed
After Next or Back, the task header (part, task number and progress bar) no longer hides behind the bars pinned at the top of the window on any screen size.
Changed
The Quiz locked message no longer stays on screen. The Quiz tab shows a lock, and clicking it explains how to unlock it for a few seconds.
v2026.10.76
One Hide reference button
One header button shows and hides the lab reference: Show reference / Hide reference.
Fixed
Hide reference appeared twice when the lab reference was open; the button inside the panel is gone, and the header button now reads Show reference or Hide reference.
v2026.10.75
Solid answer marks
Correct and Not quite marks on lab answers are solid green and red boxes with white text.
Changed
Lab answer marks are solid: Not quite is a red box and Correct a green box, both with white text, so they read at a glance.
v2026.10.74
Finished parts stay plain in the lab stepper
A finished part keeps its normal card instead of turning green, and clearing every box in a select-all question hides the old mark.
Fixed
In the one-task-at-a-time lab, a finished part (all its tasks done) no longer turns its whole card green.
Clearing every box in a select-all question hides the previous mark and asks the learner to select at least one option.
v2026.10.73
Lab stepper polish
Finished lab tasks keep a plain card with a thin green line, answers have room under them, and the Next module button appears only once that module is unlocked.
Changed
A finished task keeps its normal card with a thin green line and the Complete label, instead of turning entirely green.
The last item in a task (a mark, Check answer or a step) no longer touches the bottom of the card.
The Next module button stays hidden until the next module is unlocked; the hint below still says what is left to do.
Clearer wording in the lab's bottom bar: "Complete every step and answer each question to continue".
v2026.10.72
Labs show one task at a time
Published labs open on a briefing and reference screen, then show one task at a time in order, with Back and Next always in reach. Select-all questions are marked only when the learner presses Check answer.
Added
Labs start with the briefing and every reference table; learners confirm they have read them before Start lab unlocks.
One task on screen at a time, with the part name, task number and a progress bar. Next unlocks when the task is finished; later tasks are locked in the task list, and finished tasks can be reopened.
Reference opens the lab's reference tables full width above the current task.
Staff preview can switch between One task at a time and All tasks; the choice is remembered. Printing always shows every task.
Changed
Select-all questions are saved and marked when the learner presses Check answer, not on every tick.
Number and exact-text answers show Correct or Not quite once the learner leaves the field or presses Enter.
On published labs the separate progress bar and Show all tasks are replaced by the stepper's own Back / Next bar.
v2026.10.71
Staging learner check-in without a lab machine
Enrolled staging registrations can use the real student portal and Race Control before a lab machine is assigned, while production continues to require a lab.
Added
Staging-only check-in lets an enrolled registration enter the student portal without a linked lab instance, save course work and report progress to Race Control.
The student portal clearly shows No lab machine on staging and does not display lab credentials or poll for lab readiness.
Protected
Production check-in is unchanged and still requires the learner's linked lab instance.
v2026.10.70
Student view button in the module editor
The module editor opens the published module as a student sees it, with answer marking, in one click.
Added
Student view in the module editor opens the published module in the staff course preview, in a new tab, where answers are marked exactly as for students.
v2026.10.69
Lab questions tell learners right away if they are correct
Lab questions can carry an answer key and feedback, so learners see whether each answer is correct as soon as it saves. Three new question types: select all that apply, number and exact text.
Added
Choice, Yes / No, select all that apply, number and exact text questions can have an answer key and feedback shown on a wrong answer. Learners see Correct or Not quite after each save and can change their answer as often as they like.
The module editor has an Answer key panel on each of these questions. Export and Compare list every key and its feedback.
The Hub records each learner's first and latest result per question, ready for first-try accuracy reporting.
Changed
A wrong answer still counts as answered, so marking never blocks lab completion or the next module.
Answer keys never reach the learner's browser: the Hub marks answers on the server.
v2026.10.68
Certifications redesigned; exam results corrected and kept
Certifications is now a leadership view with clear numbers and charts, Exam Scores separates unfinished attempts from failures, and results refresh daily and never age out.
Added
Certifications shows people certified all time, newly certified in the period, the first-try pass rate and who needs a follow-up, with a monthly chart (titled axes, hover values and a table view), where learners stand, a per-certification table, recently certified names and plain definitions.
Refresh now on Certifications pulls live results for every certification and shows its progress; Export CSV lists everyone certified.
The Hub keeps every exam submission it has seen, so passes no longer drop off after Litmos's 90-day window.
Changed
Exam results refresh once a day at 06:00 Eastern and retry hourly after a failure; System settings can switch back to every N hours.
Exam Scores shows a Median Time instead of an average that one abandoned session could inflate to hours.
Fixed
Exams started but not submitted show as In progress instead of Failed, and admin completions without a score show as Marked complete; neither counts toward pass rate or averages.
A refresh is no longer thrown away when Litmos rejects a few learners: they are retried, and kept from the previous refresh if they still fail.
Learners whose Litmos profile lookup failed show their name instead of a raw Litmos ID.
The sign-in, forgot password and reset password pages no longer show the help icon.
v2026.10.67
Class actions show request progress
Starting or stopping an Operator class now shows immediate feedback and updates the count after each request finishes.
Fixed
Class actions show requests sent, finished, remaining and failed instead of staying silent until the entire class completes.
Repeated clicks cannot launch another action for the same class while it is running, and automatic refresh stays paused for the whole operation.
The result distinguishes accepted requests from confirmed AWS instance states; refresh the instance list to verify shutdown.
Terminating several instances together no longer fails because concurrent Lab Automation cleanup reads partially written data.
Fixed
Concurrent instance cleanup now preserves each successful removal and its activity log without exposing incomplete JSON to other requests.
Simulator cleanup runs outside the shared data lock so a slow simulator connection does not hold up unrelated termination requests.
v2026.10.65
Deploys package with the standard Python
Preparing a Hub release no longer needs the dashboard's Python packages on the deploying computer.
Fixed
Release packaging imported Flask through the release-notes module, so deploys failed on a computer whose python3 lacked the dashboard's packages. The Flask import now happens only when the Hub web app starts, and packaging uses the standard library alone.
v2026.10.64
Key takeaways count top-level points only
The number next to Key takeaways counts each main takeaway, not every sub-point under it, and the built-in course content uses the F2 Racing - Hairpin and F2 Racing - Apex organization names.
Fixed
Key takeaways badges counted every bullet, including nested sub-points, so a module with 7 takeaways showed about 20. They now count top-level points only (for example Module 4 shows 7).
Changed
The built-in Operator course content (used only for modules with no published version) names the organizations F2 Racing - Hairpin and F2 Racing - Apex, matching the revised study guides.
v2026.10.63
Instance actions show progress and finish reliably
Starting, stopping and terminating instances on the Environments page now shows progress straight away, is never cut off by the page's auto-refresh, and ends with a result that names every failure.
Fixed
Bulk actions on selected instances could silently do only part of the work: terminate sent every request at once, the browser only opens six at a time, and the 30-second auto-refresh reloaded the page mid-action, cancelling open requests and dropping queued ones without showing any result. On 2026-10-09 two attempts at terminating about 20 instances each terminated 6.
The page's auto-refresh now waits while any action is still running (the label shows Paused while actions run) and refreshes shortly after the last one finishes. Leaving the page during an action asks for confirmation.
Stop All and Reset All removed student DNS one student at a time, about a minute each, which outlasted the server's 120-second request limit for a full class. They now remove the records for all affected students in one verified change per DNS zone.
Every DNS change now checks Route 53 every 5 seconds instead of every 30, so a single stop or terminate takes seconds instead of about a minute, with the same verification.
Changed
Start, Stop and Terminate on selected instances send four at a time and show a progress toast (for example 12/20 done · student14) while the selection toolbar shows it is busy.
Each action ends with a result toast that names every instance that failed and why. Problems stay on screen until dismissed, and a result still showing when the page refreshes is shown again afterwards.
Single-instance Start, Stop and Terminate show a working toast as soon as they are clicked.
Stop, Start All and Stop All confirm in the Hub's own dialog instead of the browser popup, which a browser can block silently.
v2026.10.62
5 and 10 minute schedules for completion Learning Path assignment
System → Jobs offers 5 and 10 minute schedules for the Completed Course Learning Path Assignment backstop run.
Added
Completed Course Learning Path Assignment can run every 5 or 10 minutes as well as the existing 15 minutes to 24 hours. Its timer now wakes every 5 minutes and applies the chosen schedule, so longer schedules behave as before. Assignment still starts within seconds of a learner finishing; the schedule only sets how often unresolved requests (for example no account or failed) are retried.
v2026.10.61
Certification Learning Path assigned right after course completion
When a learner finishes their course, the Hub assigns the course's certification Learning Path in ScienceLogic University within seconds instead of at the next scheduled run, and the course-complete card updates on its own.
Changed
Finishing the last required lab item, answer or quiz starts the Learning Path assignment for that learner straight after the save is committed. The learner's save is never slowed or failed by it, and nothing starts while automatic assignment is paused in System → Jobs.
The course-complete card checks back on its own while the assignment is pending (after about 3 seconds, then less often, stopping after about ten minutes) and switches to Open ScienceLogic University when it is done. The pending text now says this usually takes less than a minute.
The Student Portal Check again button uses the same single-learner run, so repeated clicks do not start overlapping checks.
Fixed
The scheduled completion Learning Path job measured its interval from the end of the last run while its timer counts from the start, so a run that took longer than the timer's random delay made the next wake-up skip; a 15-minute setting could run only every 30 minutes. It now measures from the last start and allows one minute of timer jitter. The scheduled job remains the backstop for anything the immediate run misses.
v2026.10.60
Count badges stay on one line on the operator page
The Student AIO Instances count and the class card counts no longer wrap one digit per line.
Fixed
Student AIO Instances header: with one or more instances selected, the title and its count stay on one line; when the selection buttons need the room, Collapse, Start All and the other section buttons move to their own row on the right.
Class cards: the instance count pill keeps its width and the class name and session title wrap beside it, so long names such as Nexus Live Restore no longer squeeze the count or run under it.
The same header layout applies to the Infrastructure, Lab Devices and PowerUser sections.
v2026.10.59
Deploys keep the student TLS host keys
Hub deploys no longer replace the student TLS worker's saved SSH host keys with an old copy, which made some student lab links show a certificate warning after a restart.
Fixed
The deploy and student TLS install scripts checked for the worker's known_hosts file without root, could not see inside its private folder, and so copied the September legacy file over the live one on every deploy. After the next stop/start, machines whose old entries were stale were refused (Host key changed for unchanged instance) and kept the self-signed certificate. The check now runs with sudo, so an existing file is never replaced.
v2026.10.58
One-row Classes header in Classes & Learners
The Classes table header in the Classes & Learners preview fits on one row.
Changed
Classes & Learners preview: the Classes title, count, search, date filters, Refresh and Reset widths share one row (Refresh and Reset widths move to a second row only on narrow screens).
v2026.10.57
Lab links and Actions headings in Classes & Learners
In the Classes & Learners preview, a learner's lab machine name opens their lab system, and the action menus have an Actions column heading.
Added
Classes & Learners preview: the lab machine name (for example student38) is a link that opens that learner's lab system in a new tab, at the same address the Student Portal gives the learner. Labs without a learner address are not linked.
The Hub's instance list now includes each lab's learner-facing address (lab_url), from the same rule the Student Portal uses.
Changed
Classes & Learners preview: the ⋮ menu columns in both tables are headed Actions.
The Classes & Learners preview has a compact header and toolbar, adjustable column widths, counts on the learner filters, an Attended filter and a clearer selection strip.
Changed
Classes & Learners preview: small titles with the class name beside the Learners title; one toolbar per table with filters on the left and actions on the right.
Learner filters show their counts (Everyone, Attended, Did not attend, Never accessed lab, Path not assigned); Attended is new.
Ticking learners shows a strip with the number selected and Check University, Assign Learning Path and Clear selection; the number selected also shows in the Learners summary. The old "Tick learners to act on them" hint is gone.
Action menus open on screen even near the bottom of a short table.
Added
Classes & Learners preview: every column in both tables can be resized by dragging the edge of its header (double-click resets it, arrow keys work too); widths are remembered in this browser and Reset widths restores the defaults.
v2026.10.55
Gap between the Classes & Learners tables
The Classes and Learners tables in the Classes & Learners preview have a gap between them again.
Fixed
Classes & Learners preview: the Training page sets every panel margin to 0, so the class and learner tables touched; there is now a 20 px gap between them.
The Classes & Learners preview gets the Driver Standings table style, several classes at once, class editing, ScienceLogic University checks and Learning Path assignment, and clearer Learning Path and University columns.
Changed
Classes & Learners preview: styled like Race Control Driver Standings (big titles, sticky tinted header row, roomy rows, coloured stripe and detail chips by each name, bold numbers, large status pills). Classes sort newest first by default.
Learning Path column shows whether the path is assigned in ScienceLogic University (Assigned, Not assigned, Cannot assign, Not checked), with the Hub's automatic step underneath only when it adds something, and Assign now when it can be assigned; the path name is on hover (the class table shows it). University account column shows only the account status and when it was last checked. The registration column is called Class registration.
A queued automatic assignment that a newer University check already shows as assigned is now reported as Already assigned on the Learning Paths tab and in the preview, instead of Queued (display only).
Added
Classes & Learners preview: tick several classes to see all their learners together (a Class column appears); a row click shows just that class. Class menu: Edit class (the same class form as Classes & Rosters), hide or publish, open or close registration, archive (superadmins), open in Classes & Rosters.
Classes & Learners preview: tick learners and use Check University (selected classes or ticked learners) and Assign Learning Path (ticked learners, with a required reason), the same actions and rules as the Learning Paths tab; also in each learner's menu.
v2026.10.53
Classes & Learners preview in Training Management
A new preview tab combines Classes & Rosters and Learning Paths: one searchable class list and one sortable learner table with attendance, lab, progress and Learning Path side by side.
Added
Training Management: a Classes & Learners tab (Preview; admins only until shared on the Previews page). The Classes & Rosters, Requests, Lab Automation and Learning Paths tabs are unchanged.
Classes: one search (class, code, course, instructor, date, Learning Path), Running now / Upcoming / Past / All, and sortable columns for class, dates, course → Learning Path, enrolled, attended, Learning Paths assigned and alerts, with an alert banner.
Learners for the selected class: a summary (enrolled, attended, logged in to their lab, Learning Path assigned, alerts), one search, a registration status picker, quick filters (did not attend, never accessed lab, Learning Path not assigned), and sortable columns: learner, attended, lab, progress, Learning Path, University and registration. Row actions (view progress, email, assign lab, edit, cancel) open the same dialogs as Classes & Rosters.
v2026.10.52
Tidier Race Control Controls drawer
The Controls drawer on Race Control Broadcast and Lab Block is organized into three labelled cards: Class data, This screen and Every screen.
Changed
Race Control Broadcast and Lab Block Controls: three cards with aligned label and control rows. Class data (ranking: Demo, Quiz scores, Progress; the class and the data inspector), This screen (graphic time, layout, circuit, track style, zoom; only this browser) and Every screen (theme, students on track and, on Lab Block, the lab block module; saved on the Hub for every screen). Long help paragraphs became one-line hints, and the theme editor opens below the cards. Every control works as before.
v2026.10.51
Students on track reaches every screen within seconds
Changing Students on track (and the theme or lab block module) now reaches the other Race Control screens within about 10 seconds, and Classic follows the same setting.
Changed
Broadcast and Lab Block screens check the shared settings every 10 seconds instead of every minute, so a change made on another laptop shows on the big screen within about 10 seconds.
Classic Race Control now follows the same Students on track setting. Superadmins change it with the Top dropdown on Classic (saved for every screen); for everyone else the dropdown shows the value and is read-only.
The confirmation now says what happens: Saved. Every Race Control screen switches to the top N students within about 10 seconds.
v2026.10.50
Every car on the track has its own colour
On Classic, Broadcast and Lab Block Race Control, no two cars on the track share a colour, and learners keep their colour while they are on the track.
Fixed
Two learners could have the same car colour: there were only 10 colours, handed out across the whole roster, so in a class of 42 each colour was shared by about four learners. There are now 20 colours (one per car for the largest Students on track setting), handed out among the cars on the track so none match. A learner keeps their colour while on the track even as the ranking changes; someone joining the track gets a free colour. The timing tower stripe uses the same colour as the car.
v2026.10.49
Side-by-side module comparison
The module editor's Compare view can show the published version and the saved draft side by side.
Added
Compare view: an Inline | Side by side switch. Side by side shows Published (what learners see now) on the left and Saved draft on the right, with changed lines on the same row and a blank space where a line was only added or only removed. The choice is remembered in this browser; narrow windows use the inline view.
v2026.10.48
Compare a module draft with what learners see
The module editor can show what changed between a module's saved draft and the published version, and what publishing would do to learners' progress and quiz attempts.
Added
Module editor: a Compare button next to Export (and Compare with published in the bulk publish review). It shows, tab by tab (Module details, Lab, Quiz, Study Guide), the lines learners would see added or removed, using the same learner-facing text as the Export.
Above the changes, what publishing would do: wording-only changes are safe (saved lab work carries forward); a changed quiz starts a new quiz version (earlier attempts no longer count); new required items or changed options on required questions drop learners who finished below 100%; and when the next module requires this one, a red warning that it would lock for them.
Compare is read-only and uses the last saved draft (save first to include unsaved edits). Superadmin-only, like the editor.
v2026.10.47
Lab Block ranks by the average of quizzes taken
On the Race Control Lab Block page, each learner's score is now the average of the quizzes they have taken, and the ranking and track follow it.
Changed
Race Control Lab Block: the score is the average of the quizzes each learner has taken (two quizzes at 90 and 70 show 80), shown as for example 80 Avg score · 2 of 7 quizzes taken. Ranking, the timing tower and the cars on the track use it, so a weaker quiz can move a learner back. Ties go to the learner who has taken more quizzes.
Broadcast and Classic Race Control keep the average across all quizzes (not taken = 0).
v2026.10.46
Attendance on the roster
The Training Management roster shows who actually came to a class: sortable Lab Accessed and Attended columns, an attendance filter, counts for the selected class, and attendance in the CSV export.
Added
Roster: Lab Accessed and a new Attended column can be sorted (never first, then by time). Attended means the learner logged in to their lab or saved any Student Portal work in that class; hovering shows when.
Roster: an attendance filter (Accessed lab, Never accessed lab, Attended, Did not attend), and for a selected class a count such as 31 of 42 enrolled accessed their lab · 35 attended (enrolled learners only).
Roster CSV export: two new columns at the end, Portal Activity First Seen (UTC) and Attended. Existing columns are unchanged.
v2026.10.45
Race Control hides admins again
Show Admins works again on every Race Control page: Hub staff enrolled in a class are hidden unless it is turned on.
Fixed
Race Control showed admins even with Show Admins off. Since Race Control moved from Litmos to Hub data, the Hub ignored the setting. Learners whose email belongs to a Hub sign-in with the superadmin, admin, ops or instructor role are now left out of the race, rankings, timing tower and lab block on Classic, Broadcast and Lab Block, unless Show Admins is on. Roster viewers and everyone else always race.
v2026.10.44
Student lab certificates issue again
Trusted HTTPS certificates for student lab machines were failing for every new machine; the certificate services can write certbot's folders again.
Fixed
The student TLS provisioning and renewal services run with a read-only filesystem except listed folders, and certbot's work and log folders (/var/lib/letsencrypt, /var/log/letsencrypt) were not listed, so every certificate request failed with Read-only file system (students 16 to 60 on 2026-10-08). Both folders are now writable for those services; the rest of the hardening is unchanged.
v2026.10.43
Task progress graphic title
The Lab Block graphic Where the room is stuck is now called Task progress.
Changed
Race Control Lab Block: the graphic listing each unfinished lab task with how many finished it and how many are working on it is now called Task progress (was Where the room is stuck).
v2026.10.42
Quiz scores on the Lab Block page
The Lab Block page shows each learner's quiz scores and calls the ranking a quiz average instead of race points.
Changed
Race Control Lab Block: Top by module shows each quiz score as a number in its module box (a dash when not taken), with the same colours as before.
Race Control Lab Block: race points are called quiz avg (for example 92 QUIZ AVG next to 4 of 4 quizzes · 92% on quizzes taken), with the legend Quiz avg = all quizzes, not taken = 0. The ranking itself is unchanged.
Race Control Lab Block: Module board is no longer shown. Broadcast and Classic are unchanged.
v2026.10.41
Learners keep their lab work when a module is republished
Publishing a new version of a module no longer gives every learner an empty lab: saved work carries forward to the new version where the steps and questions are unchanged.
Fixed
Republishing a module (even a small text fix) started a new, empty lab for every learner in the Student Portal, reports and Race Control, because saved work belongs to the module version it was saved on. Publishing and rolling back now copy each learner's saved work to the newly live version in the same step: ticked steps that still exist, answers to questions that still exist (option answers only when the options are unchanged), notes and the last task. Work already saved on the new version always wins, work from before a Reset learning data is never brought back, and the old saves are left in place.
The publish review now says that saved work carries forward when a lab change starts a new progress version.
Added
A one-time backfill script (scripts/carry_forward_backfill.py, dry run by default, backup before --apply) for modules republished before this release.
v2026.10.40
Standings and Podium on the Lab Block page
The Lab Block page's Race group now plays every Standings and Podium graphic after the lab block.
Changed
Race Control Lab Block: after the lab block, the Race group shows Race leader and Top 3 first, then Battle, Top by module, Module board, Best quiz score, Finished the course and Class progress (the same graphics as the Broadcast page's Standings and Podium). The lab block takes the place of Pit Wall and Session stats. Broadcast and Classic are unchanged.
v2026.10.39
Race Control broadcast fixes: live data and car colours
On Race Control Broadcast and Lab Block, the rotating panel no longer shows demo learners after live data loads, and every car on the track uses the same colour as its timing tower row.
Fixed
The rotating panel on Broadcast and Lab Block kept showing the built-in demo learners (Avery Morgan, Sofia Nguyen and so on) for a full round after live class data loaded, while the timing tower already showed the class. The panel now starts again with the live learners as soon as the data source changes (demo to live, another course or class). Regular refreshes still let the graphic on screen finish.
The leader's car on the Broadcast and Lab Block track was drawn with no colour (it looked dark) instead of matching its timing tower row. Every car now uses its tower colour; the leader keeps its gold glow. Classic Race Control is unchanged.
v2026.10.38
Lab block as its own Race Control preview
The lab block from 2026.10.37 moves to its own page, /race-control/lab, so Classic and Broadcast stay exactly as they were while it is reviewed.
Added
New preview Race Control Lab Block (/race-control/lab) on the Previews page, admins only to start; superadmins choose who else can open it. It is the broadcast with the lab block split screen and the Lab block module picker in Controls.
The Race Control switch gets a third option, Lab block, shown only to people the Lab Block preview is shared with. Choosing it is not remembered, so Classic or Broadcast still opens as before.
Changed
Race Control Broadcast is back to its 2026.10.36 split screen (Race Tracker, Standings, Pit Wall and Podium); the lab block and the module picker are only on the Lab Block page.
v2026.10.37
Lab block view on the Race Control broadcast
The split screen on the Race Control broadcast preview now follows the module the class is working on, with lab progress, where the room is stuck, who needs a hand, who finished and the module quiz debrief, then the race graphics.
Added
Lab block graphics for the current module: lab progress (done, working, not started and average lab items done), where the room is stuck (each unfinished task with how many finished it and how many are working on it, with the busiest task marked), needs a hand (learners working on the module with no saved work for 10 minutes, and learners who have not started once they are a minority), finished the module (names), and the module quiz (how many took it, average score, pass rate among those who took it and the most missed question).
The module is picked automatically: the module where most of the class saved work in the last 15 minutes. With no recent saves (for example during slides) it keeps the module learners worked on last. The broadcast shows it as Lab block · Module 03 (auto).
Superadmins can pin a module in Controls (Lab block module) for every broadcast screen, and switch back to Automatic. Other viewers see the current choice.
Changed
Split screen cycles two groups, Lab block and Race, instead of the four tabs. Race keeps Race leader, Top 3, Battle and Top by module. Keys 1 and 2 and the tab buttons jump between them. Full screen is unchanged.
Module board, Pit wall radio, Session stats, Best quiz score, Finished the course and Class progress are no longer in the split screen panel (they stay in full screen).
v2026.10.36
Clearer Race Control broadcast graphics
The Race Control broadcast preview only ranks learners who are on the track, explains its scores, and names the learners who need a check-in more usefully.
Changed
Top by module, Top 3 and Race leader only include learners on the track (progress and points above 0), matching the timing tower. Learners who have not started are no longer listed with a score of 0.
Scores are called race points (the average across all quizzes, with quizzes not taken counting as 0), and leader, Top 3 and Battle cards also show quizzes taken and the score on those quizzes, for example 1 of 7 quizzes · 40% on quizzes taken.
Top by module has a color legend; Module board only lists modules someone has attempted; Battle only covers the top 5 places.
Pit wall radio names learners below a quiz pass mark and learners who started but have not saved work for 30 minutes. Learners who have not started are named only once they are a minority of the class; before that they are one line with a count.
Renamed: Best quiz score (was Fastest lap), Perfect score (was Perfect lap), Finished the course (was Checkered flag), Saved work in last 15 min (was Active now), Average race points (was Class average). The score band label (Elite, Developing and so on) is no longer shown.
Removed
On the move and Top improvers, which needed an earlier snapshot the Hub does not keep, so they never appeared with live data.
v2026.10.35
Why it matters and Key takeaways always expanded
In the Student Portal and module previews, Why it matters and Key takeaways are always open instead of collapsed panels.
Changed
Why it matters and Key takeaways in the Study Guide are always expanded. The heading, icon, subtitle and takeaway count stay; the open/close arrow is gone, and the two are shown one above the other at full width.
Applies to published modules, module previews in the editor, and modules that still use the original built-in format.
v2026.10.34
Export course modules for review
Superadmins can export a module, or a whole course, as learners see it: a Markdown file for review with Claude or a print view to save as PDF.
Added
Training Management, Modules has an Export course button and an Export button on each open module.
Choose Published (what learners see now) or Saved draft, and Markdown file or Print / Save as PDF. Bulk export puts every module of the course in one file, in the order learners see them.
Exports show the Lab, Quiz, Study Guide and Study Notes tabs as learners see them with every tab expanded, the same labels and question numbering, and the full quiz with a marked answer key that learners never see.
v2026.10.33
Student Portal dark mode uses the course color
In dark mode the Student Portal course page now highlights with a lighter version of the course's own color instead of a fixed blue.
Fixed
Dark mode used the same light blue for the current module, the highlighted task, section headings, progress bars and buttons in every course. It now uses a lighter version of the course color set in System, Check-In (for example a soft red for Operator), checked to stay readable on the dark background. Light mode is unchanged.
v2026.10.32
Light and dark mode in the Student Portal
Learners can switch the Student Portal between light and dark mode, and admins choose which mode it starts in.
Added
A sun and moon button at the top of the Student Portal switches between light and dark mode. Each learner's choice is remembered on their device.
System, Check-In, Portal appearance has a new Student Portal starts in setting: Light mode, Dark mode, or Match the learner's device. It applies until a learner picks a mode themselves.
Fixed
In dark mode, the Start learning card title and progress, the session note, and the accent buttons and module badges were hard to read; they now have readable contrast.
In dark mode, the course banner and its tab strip use a dark version of the course color instead of staying pale.
v2026.10.31
Classic | Broadcast switch in Race Control
Race Control has a Classic | Broadcast switch, so people who can use the broadcast preview reach it without going to the Previews page.
Added
A Classic | Broadcast switch at the top of Race Control and of the broadcast page.
The choice is remembered in each browser: after choosing Broadcast, Race Control in the side menu opens the broadcast view until you choose Classic again.
The switch appears only for people allowed to open the broadcast preview (set on the Previews page; admins only by default).
v2026.10.30
Race Control broadcast: one setting for students on the track and in the list
On the Race Control broadcast preview, one admin setting now decides how many students race on the track and appear in the list beside it.
Changed
Students on track (Top 5, 10, 15 or 20, default 5) in Controls replaces both the per-screen Top dropdown and Learners listed on the broadcast page. A superadmin sets it once and every broadcast screen follows within a minute; the list always shows the same students as the cars on the track.
With 15 or 20 students the list rows get shorter so the cycling graphics keep room underneath.
The current Race Control page keeps its own Top setting in each browser; the broadcast page no longer changes it.
v2026.10.29
Race Control broadcast: full-height track and an admin-set learner list
The broadcast split screen now gives the race track the full height of the screen, with the top learners and the cycling graphics stacked in one column on the left.
Changed
Split screen layout: the track fills the full height on the right; the left column lists the top learners in race order with every other graphic cycling underneath. The bottom ticker is unchanged.
Layout choices are now Split screen and Full screen. The side panel and bottom band layouts from 2026.10.28 are replaced; screens that used either now show the new split screen.
The cycling graphics size themselves to the space left under the list, so they stay readable with a short or long list.
Added
Learners listed (5 to 10, default 5) in Controls: a superadmin sets it once for every Race Control broadcast screen, and screens follow within a minute. The number of cars on the track keeps its own setting.
v2026.10.28
Race Control broadcast split screen
The Race Control broadcast preview now keeps the race track and timing tower on screen all the time while every other graphic cycles in one panel.
Added
Split screen is the new default layout for the Race Control broadcast preview: the timing tower and the live track (aerial or studio) stay on screen, and battle, movers, module blocks, module board, pit wall, session stats, improvers and podium moments cycle in one panel with its own progress bar.
Controls has a Layout setting: Split: side panel, Split: bottom band, or Full screen (the previous one-graphic-at-a-time version). Each screen remembers its choice, like Graphic time.
In split screen the tab buttons and keys 1 to 4 jump to that section in the panel, and each graphic is introduced by a label that slides into the panel instead of a full-screen wipe, so the track is never covered.
v2026.10.27
Race Control colour themes and a Previews page
Superadmins can give the Race Control broadcast an event colour theme for every screen, and a new Previews page collects every preview in one place with a who-can-see-it setting for each.
Added
Race Control broadcast themes: in Controls, superadmins pick a theme and every Race Control broadcast screen switches to it within a minute. Built in: ScienceLogic (red, the current look) and Nexus Live 2026 (pink to lime on charcoal).
Edit themes lets superadmins make and name their own theme from a main colour, an optional second colour that blends with it, and optional dark and light backgrounds. The broadcast shows the colours while you edit, text colours are chosen automatically so they stay readable, and medal and warning colours do not change.
A Previews page (Previews in the side panel) lists every preview with a link to the current version for comparison: Race Control Broadcast, the Classes & Rosters concept, the classic registration page and the Hub-style Student Portal trial.
Superadmins choose who can see each preview: admins only, admins plus ops and instructors, or everyone who signs in to the Hub. For Hub previews this also decides who can open them. The Previews link appears only for people who have at least one preview shared with them.
Changed
Every preview now starts as admins only. The Race Control Broadcast and the Classes & Rosters concept were previously open to other roles; a superadmin can open them up again on the Previews page.
v2026.10.26
Race Control broadcast preview: graphic time, readable tab titles, class score
The Race Control broadcast preview lets you choose how long each graphic stays up, holds each tab title long enough to read, and shows the class average score on the class progress graphic.
Changed
Controls has a Graphic time setting (5, 8, 10, 15 or 20 seconds), remembered in that browser. The Race Tracker overview stays up twice as long and Standings pages a little longer.
The red title between tabs (Race Tracker, Standings, Pit Wall, Podium) now stays readable for about 1.5 seconds.
The Podium class progress graphic shows the class average score under the average progress.
Pressing Next or Previous while a tab title is showing now moves within the new tab.
v2026.10.25
Race Control broadcast preview page
A preview of Race Control where every tab plays as TV-broadcast graphics opens at its own address. The current Race Control page is unchanged.
Added
Race Control Broadcast preview at /race-control/broadcast, with a link back to the current Race Control. It uses the same live data, course and session pickers, and circuit choices.
Every tab plays as a short run of full-screen graphics with a red progress bar, and a red wipe introduces each tab. A corner label, clock and bottom ticker with class numbers stay on screen.
Race Tracker opens with the timing tower and the live track, including the real aerial circuit view where one is cached, then shows the closest battle and who moved up or down.
Standings shows classification pages where each module is a coloured block: purple for the class best, green for passed, yellow for below the pass mark and grey for not yet attempted. A module board follows with pass rates and the class best per module.
Pit Wall names every learner who needs a check-in and why (overdue, needs support, not started, or gone quiet), then shows session numbers and top improvers. Podium shows the leader, top 3, fastest or perfect lap, finishers and class progress.
Use the tab buttons or keys 1 to 4 to jump between tabs, Left and Right to step, and Space to pause. Presentation mode shows the broadcast full screen, and the page follows the Hub light or dark theme.
v2026.10.24
Broadcast-style Podium Moments in Race Control
Race Control's Podium Moments tab now plays full-screen, TV-broadcast-style graphics built from the live class data.
Added
Podium Moments shows one large broadcast-style graphic at a time: race leader, overtakes, fastest lap, perfect lap, top 3, checkered flag and class progress. Each graphic appears only when the class data backs it.
Presenters can step through graphics with the Left and Right arrow keys, pause with Space, or use the small controls on the stage. Presentation mode shows the graphics full size.
A Broadcast / Classic switch at the top of Podium Moments brings back the previous podium layout at any time, and the choice is remembered in that browser.
v2026.10.23
More room and clearer results in the Database and API Browsers
The Database and API Browsers give results more space, show single rows as readable records, and let you collapse JSON responses.
Changed
The summary tiles at the top of both browsers were removed to leave more room for your work.
In the Database Browser you can hide the table list so the editor and results use the full width, and the results area is taller. Your choice is remembered in this browser.
A result with a single row opens as a record, with each field on its own line, so long values are fully readable. Click any row in a table to read it the same way and step through rows with Previous and Next.
Recent activity explains that entries are kept for 90 days. Clear list hides entries from your own view, and Show hidden brings them back; the record itself is kept.
The Database Browser lists only student systems, including Power User student databases. Lab devices and infrastructure are no longer listed.
API Browser shows JSON responses as an expandable tree with Expand all, Collapse all and a Raw view. Large responses open quickly because sections are built as you open them.
Buttons on both pages use SVG icons instead of text symbols.
Fixed
Activity records for both browsers older than 90 days are now removed automatically.
v2026.10.22
Database and API Browser headers match the other Hub pages
The Database Browser and API Browser now open with the same header card and summary tiles as the rest of the Hub.
Changed
Database Browser shows tiles for Hub databases and their size, reachable SL1 systems, whether changes are unlocked, and today's activity.
API Browser shows tiles for Hub API endpoints, target systems, your saved requests and outbound protection.
v2026.10.21
Query student and lab SL1 databases from the Database Browser
The Database Browser can now browse and query the SL1 database on running student and lab systems.
Added
Pick a running student or lab system in the Database Browser to see its SL1 databases and tables, open a table's columns, and run queries. Queries reach the system the same way the Hub's lab automation does, so no database password is needed.
Reads run read-only with a time limit. Changes need your password and typing the system name, take effect immediately, and are not backed up, so use them carefully.
For safety, statements sent to SL1 must be a single statement without comments or backslashes, and file access and other server-level commands are not allowed.
v2026.10.20
API Browser for superadmins
Superadmins can explore the Hub's own API and send requests to student systems and other APIs from a new API Browser page under Administration.
Added
API Browser (Administration, superadmins only) with a Hub API tab that lists every Hub endpoint with its methods and who can use it. Click one to open it in the request builder.
A request builder like Postman: choose this Hub, a running student or lab system, or any URL, then set the method, headers, body, Basic or Bearer authentication, a timeout and certificate checking. Responses show status, timing, headers and a formatted body.
Requests to this Hub run as you in your browser, and changing requests ask for confirmation first. Requests to other systems are sent by the Hub and never follow redirects. Cloud metadata, loopback and the Hub's own addresses are always blocked.
Save requests for later. Passwords, tokens and sensitive headers are stored encrypted, are never shown again, and are only used by the Hub when you send that saved request. Saved requests are private to you.
Changed
Side panel links are a little more compact so all of them still fit on most screens.
v2026.10.19
Resizable table list in the Database Browser
The Database Browser's table list can be widened so long table names are fully visible.
Changed
Drag the divider between the table list and the SQL editor to resize the list, or focus it and use the arrow keys. Double-click the divider to reset. Your width is remembered in this browser.
Long table names wrap instead of being cut off, and hovering a table shows its full name.
v2026.10.17
Database Browser for superadmins
Superadmins can browse and query the Hub's own databases from a new Database Browser page under Administration.
Added
Database Browser (Administration, superadmins only): pick a Hub database, see its tables with row counts and columns, preview any table with one click, run SQL, and export results as CSV.
Queries run read-only by default. Changing data requires re-entering your password, which unlocks changes for 15 minutes, and typing the database name to confirm each change. A backup is taken automatically before every change.
Every query and change is recorded with who ran it, and the most recent activity is shown on the page.
v2026.10.16
Hub version visible in the collapsed side panel
The collapsed side panel now shows a version icon, so the current Hub release is always one hover away.
Changed
When the side panel is collapsed, a tag icon at the bottom of the icon strip shows the Hub version when you point at it or Tab to it. Clicking it opens What's New, as the version label does when the panel is expanded.
v2026.10.15
Collapsible icon rail for Hub navigation
Collapsing the Hub side panel now leaves a narrow strip of icons, so every page stays one click away while tables get more room.
Changed
On a computer, collapsing the side panel shrinks it to a strip of icons instead of hiding it. Point at or Tab to an icon to see the page name, and use the arrow button at the top of the strip to expand it again.
Opening and closing the side panel is smoother, and the ScienceLogic logo slides into the top bar beside the icons when the panel is collapsed.
Environments, Exam Scores, Billing, Training Management, User Management and User Manual have new icons, so every page in the side panel has its own icon.
Side panel links are slightly more compact so every link fits without scrolling on most screens.
On phones the menu still opens over the page from the menu button, as before.
v2026.10.14
Finished lab tasks turn green
In the course checklist, each lab task is now highlighted green as soon as all of its answers are saved.
Fixed
A finished lab task is highlighted green right away, even while other tasks in the same part are still open. Previously the green highlight appeared only once every task in the part was finished.
v2026.10.13
Preserve Student System Progress state during deployment
Hub deployments retain the synchronization files used by the Student System Progress clear-history control.
Fixed
Production and staging deployments preserve the lock and clear-generation files that prevent an in-progress automation poll from restoring Student System Progress history after it is cleared.
v2026.10.12
Clearer student check-in name guidance
Student Check-In now makes clear that learners may use either their registered first or last name.
Improved
Student Check-In labels and guidance now tell learners they can enter either their registered first name or last name, and name-mismatch feedback uses the same terminology.
v2026.10.11
Clear completed lab progress
Lab Automation operators can remove completed Student System Progress history without affecting active access restrictions.
Added
Lab Automation includes a Clear history action for completed and inactive Student System Progress records. Active access restrictions and manual entries remain in place.
Fixed
Ended classes no longer repopulate cleared progress history, and an automation poll already in progress cannot restore records cleared after that poll began.
v2026.10.10
Guided checklist Student Portal
The guided checklist course page is now the Student Portal's Course tab for every learner.
Changed
The Student Portal Course tab now opens lab tasks one at a time, shows a live checklist under the current module, and keeps progress and the next task in view at the bottom of the page.
Links to the former preview page open the Student Portal on the same module.
v2026.10.9
Clearer module states
The guided checklist preview's module list shows at a glance which modules are ready, in progress, complete or locked.
Improved
Module number badges show the module's state: an outlined badge for ready to start, a tinted badge for in progress, green for complete, and a faint badge with a padlock for locked.
v2026.10.8
Edit registrations and reset learner progress
Superadmins can edit every registration detail and give a learner a clean start in a class.
Added
Training Management → Roster → Edit details lets superadmins change a learner's name, email, company, job title, region, learner type and notes, plus the registration number, course and class, and status. Learner details apply to all of that learner's classes.
Training Management → Roster → Reset learning data permanently clears one class's lab steps, answers, notes, quiz attempts, restart history and Learning Path queue for a learner, after a preview, a reason and typing the learner's email. Other classes are untouched.
v2026.10.7
Tidier module checklist
The In this module checklist in the guided checklist preview is easier to read.
Fixed
Long part names in the In this module checklist no longer overlap the task below them in Safari.
Improved
The checklist has more space between parts and tasks, and lab sections no longer repeat a "Lab ·" prefix.
v2026.10.6
Module numbers always visible
Completed and locked modules keep their number in the guided checklist preview's module list.
Improved
Module numbers stay visible in the preview's module list. Completed modules are shown in green with a checkmark, and locked modules are greyed with a padlock in place of the percentage.
v2026.10.5
Clearer next steps in the guided checklist
The guided checklist preview makes the next step obvious and removes duplicate navigation and progress.
Improved
Next task stays greyed out with a short hint until the current task is finished.
The progress bar at the bottom of the page offers Go to task only when the next unfinished task is off screen or another tab is open; quiz and next-module navigation stay with the controls at the end of the module.
The lesson header no longer repeats module progress, and Yes/No questions no longer repeat "(Yes / No)" next to the answer buttons.
v2026.10.4
Guided checklist refinements
The guided checklist preview now matches the current portal's navigation cues and lets learners clear a selected answer.
Improved
The module number and name appear above the lesson tabs once they stick while scrolling.
Completed modules stay highlighted green in the module list, including the module being viewed.
Next task and Continue light up only once the open task is finished, and task content keeps consistent spacing inside each task card.
The module list heading matches the current portal, and the module list no longer repeats the course progress shown in the banner.
Added
Clicking a selected Yes/No answer clears it.
v2026.10.2
Guided checklist course preview
The opt-in Student Portal preview now guides learners through each module one task at a time while the current Student Portal remains unchanged.
Added
Lab tasks in the preview open one at a time, with a Next task button, and finished tasks fold away. Learners can still show every task at once.
The current module in the module list shows a live checklist of its parts and tasks, and a progress bar at the bottom of the page always shows what is next.
Improved
Yes/No questions use buttons instead of dropdowns, the repeated lab instructions collapse to one line, and reference tables stack into cards on phones.
The preview no longer shows an empty band above the lesson tabs or a duplicate module title on published modules.
v2026.10.1
Functional course-page preview
Learners can review the Option 2 course layout with their real course work while the current Student Portal remains unchanged.
Added
The opt-in Student Portal preview now presents Course work with an expanded module progress rail, current-module progress, sticky lesson tabs, and a responsive phone module selector.
Lab steps, answers, notes, quizzes, and module navigation are fully functional in the preview and save to the learner's existing record.
Improved
Course-page status and completion controls use consistent SVG icons throughout the preview, with no emoji icons.
v2026.09.69
Aligned navigation headers
The sidebar brand panel now aligns with page headers throughout the Hub without crowding responsive controls.
Fixed
The sidebar logo panel and page header now share the same bottom edge across Home, Environments, Tools, Training Management, System, and Cloud Resources.
Header controls remain contained and page titles stay readable at desktop, tablet, and phone widths.
v2026.09.68
Manual email templates
System email templates are aligned correctly and staff can create reusable messages for manual sending.
Added
Staff can create a reusable manual email template from System -> Email Templates with a unique name and optional starting subject, then select it when emailing an individual learner in Training Management.
Fixed
The Email Templates editor title and actions now remain aligned above the Subject and Message fields instead of overlapping them in Safari.
v2026.09.67
Actionable Learning Path roster
Learning Paths now supports faster roster operations and clearly identifies assignments removed in ScienceLogic University.
Added
The learner table reports the number of unique learners currently shown and updates the count immediately as search filters change.
Instructors can export the current filtered learners or the complete loaded roster to CSV and email selected learners using an existing template or a new message.
A ScienceLogic University account-registration email template is available for learners who do not yet have an account.
Improved
The learner table header remains visible while scrolling, and clicking anywhere on a learner row selects or clears that row.
Previously verified assignments that a newer Litmos check finds missing are shown as Assignment removed with an immediate Reassign action, without silently reassigning the learner.
Learner certification guidance no longer presents the exam as available after a newer Litmos check finds the assignment or account missing.
v2026.09.66
Reliable completion assignments
Course completion now queues the certification Learning Path reliably and the hourly worker recovers recent requests missed by a transient database lock.
Fixed
Completing the final required lab or quiz no longer opens a second database connection that can prevent the Learning Path request from being queued.
The hourly assignment job recovers learners who completed after automation was enabled but whose request was missed, without backfilling historical completions from before activation.
v2026.09.65
Configurable ScienceLogic University links
Administrators can now maintain separate internal and external ScienceLogic University destinations from Check-In settings.
Added
System -> Check-In -> Certification Access now includes separate Internal and External ScienceLogic University URL fields.
Improved
Learner portals use the configured destination for the learner's audience while preserving existing legacy link settings.
Certification destinations require a well-formed HTTPS URL and unsafe stored values fall back to the built-in safe destinations.
v2026.09.64
Completed-course Home guidance
The Student Portal Home page now recognizes a finished course and directs the learner to the certification-exam next step.
Fixed
A learner who completes every required lab and quiz now sees Course complete on the Home page instead of the final module and an incorrect Continue module action.
The completed Home tile shows the appropriate ScienceLogic University, pending-assignment, or instructor-contact next step in both portal layouts.
v2026.09.63
Clear course completion and exam handoff
Learners now see what happens after their final module, while instructors can distinguish Hub completion from the certification-assignment workflow.
Added
The final completed module now displays a Course complete card with the learner's current certification-exam handoff and a direct ScienceLogic University action when appropriate.
Learning Paths now shows current Hub course completion and the automatic assignment workflow as separate sortable, searchable columns alongside cached University account and assignment data.
Improved
Learner-facing certification messages consistently use the ScienceLogic University name and provide a clear retry or instructor-contact action when exam access needs attention.
v2026.09.62
Lab-first tabs and smoother scores
Learner modules now put the Lab first in the tab row, and Quiz results animate at a more deliberate pace.
Improved
Module tabs now appear as Lab, Quiz, Study Guide, and Study Notes so the first visible tab matches the Lab-first learning flow.
A learner opening a legacy module for the first time starts on the Lab, while a returning learner can still resume a previously selected Quiz.
The Quiz score dial and score reveal now animate more slowly while continuing to honor reduced-motion preferences.
v2026.09.61
Lab-first module workflow
Learners complete required Lab work before taking a module Quiz, while completed modules return to the Quiz result and score.
Improved
Modules with an unfinished Lab now open on the Lab and keep the Quiz locked until all required Lab work is complete.
After a Quiz is submitted, returning to the module opens the Quiz result and shows the saved score with an animated score dial.
Module tabs now appear as Quiz, Lab, Study Guide, and Study Notes, with updated learner-facing names for the guide and notes sections.
v2026.09.60
Flexible Learning Paths tables
Training staff can sort, search, and resize the Learning Paths class and learner tables while reviewing certification alignment.
Improved
Every displayed class and learner column can be sorted independently in Training Management, Learning Paths.
Search covers the visible class, course, access, Litmos, assignment, completion, and refresh information.
Class and learner tables remember their own adjusted column widths, with a Reset widths control for each table.
v2026.09.59
Visible and controllable Litmos certification alignment
Instructors can see cached Litmos account and certification-path status, refresh it live, and assign linked paths to selected learners before or during class.
Added
Training Management now separates Litmos account existence, certification Learning Path membership, and Hub course completion for each learner and course.
Named class instructors and superadmins can refresh Litmos data on demand and perform an audited single or bulk assignment with a required reason.
A daily read-only job caches alignment data for active, upcoming, and recently ended classes while retaining the last successful truth when Litmos is unavailable.
v2026.09.58
Accurate course starts and first-boot certificates
The learner portal now distinguishes a new course from saved work, and new Operator systems wait for first-boot initialization before trusted certificate setup.
Fixed
Learners with no saved course activity now see Start learning and Start course instead of being told to continue work they have not begun.
Saved lab steps, answers, notes, or quiz attempts switch the Home card to Continue learning, including activity that still displays zero percent completion.
New Operator systems no longer start trusted certificate deployment while their required first-boot reboot is still pending.
v2026.09.57
Automatic SSH cleanup after termination
Terminated Operator and PowerUser systems release their tracked SSH trust records after AWS confirms termination, preventing stale-key collisions when private addresses are reused.
Fixed
The durable certificate worker removes a known-host key and its instance binding only after AWS confirms the exact tracked instance is terminated or gone.
Stopped instances, changed key digests, and identity records replaced by a newer instance remain protected from cleanup.
Cleanup consumes every AWS results page and runs only in the scheduled worker, so an unrelated cleanup warning cannot turn a successful targeted certificate setup into a reported failure.
v2026.09.56
Reliable certificates after address reuse
New student systems can complete secure certificate setup when AWS reuses a private address previously assigned to another lab.
Fixed
Certificate setup binds each accepted SSH key to its instance and refreshes a stale key only when the protected key history and a current AWS check both confirm address reuse by a different instance.
SSH readiness failures retain their specific cause instead of ending with only a generic timeout.
v2026.09.55
Certificate worker activation hardening
The Operator certificate worker now activates with its intended restricted permissions and processes only explicitly queued certificate requests.
Fixed
The worker's privileged-command policy is installed under a system-recognized filename and supports its isolated runtime.
Older untracked pending states are not processed until a current start or retry action explicitly queues them.
v2026.09.54
Certificate worker activation check
Deployment now validates the certificate worker's shared lock configuration correctly before activating it.
Fixed
The release installation check now recognizes the worker's configured lock path and can complete activation.
v2026.09.53
Certificate worker deployment compatibility
The Operator certificate readiness worker can now be deployed reliably when the approved administrator key is stored in a folder whose name contains spaces.
Fixed
Deployment now preserves approved administrator key paths that contain spaces instead of stopping before file transfer.
v2026.09.52
Reliable certificate setup for Operator labs
New and restarted Operator labs now complete trusted HTTPS setup through a durable, isolated worker before learner access is marked ready.
Fixed
Certificate setup no longer runs inside the hardened web service, where operating-system protections prevented its required certificate operations.
Pending labs are handled independently so one slow system does not block the rest, and interrupted work is safely reclaimed after its lease expires.
Failed certificate attempts remain visible and require an explicit retry instead of repeating external certificate and SSH work indefinitely.
Security
The certificate worker uses a dedicated service account, root-owned code and system Python, isolated AWS and SSH configuration, private temporary files, and narrowly scoped privileged commands.
v2026.09.51
Readable, resizable environment columns
Operator and Power User environment tables have clearer default widths and columns that can be resized to suit the information being reviewed.
Improved
Operator and Power User tables give status and environment details more room by default.
Drag a column divider to resize it, or focus the divider and use the arrow keys. Each table remembers its own widths on that browser.
Reset widths restores the recommended layout. Compact mobile cards keep their existing responsive presentation.
v2026.09.50
Operator status explains lab readiness
The Operator environments table now shows what is ready, what is still running, and what needs attention before learner access opens.
Changed
Operator status now shows progress and separate gates for the EC2 instance, AWS system checks, and trusted HTTPS.
Ready appears only after every learner-access gate passes; certificate failures, changed addresses, impaired checks, and unavailable status data have distinct explanations.
The Operator table and student portal now use the same learner-readiness result.
v2026.09.49
Verified secure access before Operator labs open
New Operator labs stay unavailable until their secure web address and certificate have been verified.
Changed
New Operator labs are shown as preparing until their secure web address and certificate are ready for the system's current public address.
Learner launch and copy controls remain unavailable if certificate setup is pending, fails, or must be repeated after an address change.
v2026.09.48
Trial of a redesigned student workspace
A redesigned student workspace with the Hub's look is available for staff testing alongside the current student portal.
Added
A trial student workspace with the Hub's sidebar, a Continue card, course progress and lab status at a glance, and a module list.
Lessons in the trial keep the lab address and credentials beside the lesson, and show a lab bar at the bottom on phones.
Learners can choose Light, Dark or System appearance from their account menu in the trial.
Work saved in the trial workspace is the same saved work as in the current portal, so learners can switch between them without losing progress.
v2026.09.47
Select classes to see their learners
Training Management, Learning Paths shows learners as soon as you select one or more classes; the View learners button is gone.
Changed
Click a class row (or its checkbox) to add or remove it; the learner table updates immediately and combines every selected class, with a Class column when more than one is selected.
A header checkbox selects or clears every class shown by the search.
Classes running today are selected when the tab opens; if none are running, the next class to start is selected.
Whole-class unlock buttons name their class when several classes are selected.
v2026.09.46
A cleaner student view
Student pages no longer show Hub help or the Hub version, and the Hub top bar no longer shows the version.
Changed
Student pages (training registration, My Learning and the check-in portal, including its sign-in page) no longer show the Hub help icon or the Hub version.
The Hub version is no longer shown in the top bar; it stays in the sidebar footer and still links to What's New.
v2026.09.45
Highlights follow your accent color
Selected buttons, filters and highlight backgrounds now use your chosen accent color on every Hub page.
Fixed
Light highlight backgrounds (for example the Course Catalog filter buttons) were a fixed light blue; they are now a tint of your accent color in light and dark themes.
Pages without the account menu now apply your accent color when they load.
Training Admin notes, the dashboard's primary class button hover, the avatar ring and date tiles use the accent color instead of fixed blue.
v2026.09.44
Race Control uses Hub progress
Race Control live boards now rank learners from their saved Hub course work, in Quiz scores or Progress mode.
Changed
Live Race Control has two modes: Quiz scores (average best Hub quiz score) and Progress (Hub course completion). Ties use the other measure, then the most recent save, then name.
Every practitioner course with published Hub modules is available automatically; the separate Race Control course and learning path lists were removed from System.
v2026.09.43
Lab automation triggered by Hub progress
Lab Automation rules can start and end restrictions from each learner's Hub module progress; the Litmos module trigger is retired.
New
Lab Automation has a Hub module progress trigger: choose a course, then a published module (whole module or a single lab task) to start the restriction and another to end it, for one class or every class containing the course.
Changed
Rules that used Litmos module completion are marked Retired Litmos trigger and are no longer checked; edit one to choose Hub or student-system progress, or delete it. Student-system checkpoint rules are unchanged.
v2026.09.42
Multiple-course classes run in order
In a multiple-course class each later course opens after the learner completes the previous one, with instructor unlocks for exceptions.
New
Later courses in a multiple-course class stay locked until the learner completes every module of the previous course in the Hub. Completing a course opens the next one permanently.
Class instructors and superadmins can unlock a later course early for one learner or the whole class from Learning Paths, View learners. A reason is required and each unlock is recorded.
Learners see which course to finish first, with a link back to it.
v2026.09.41
Course workspace for every course
Modules can be published for any practitioner course, and the Student Portal workspace and Student Progress work for each course a class covers.
New
The module editor can publish modules for any practitioner course, not only Operator.
Learners get the Course Workspace for each course their class covers once that course has published modules; progress, quizzes and retakes are kept separately per course.
Completing all of a course's modules queues that course's certification Learning Path.
Student Progress has a working Course selector, including learners in multiple-course classes.
Safety
Existing retake history and module-restart state are preserved and assigned to Operator when this release first runs.
v2026.09.40
Course progress comes only from the Hub
Student course progress now comes only from saved work in the Hub; Litmos is used for the certification exam.
Changed
The student portal shows course progress only from modules, lab steps and answers saved in the Hub. Courses whose modules are not yet in the Hub show Not tracked.
A completed learner whose course has no certification Learning Path now sees a notice that names the course rather than the class.
Removed
The hourly Litmos progress sync, the Litmos progress lookup for the portal, and the per-training-type Litmos course settings in Check-In configuration.
v2026.09.39
Course-driven Learning Path picker
Each course row in the Course Catalog now has its own Certification Learning Path picker, backed by a saved Learning Path list.
Changed
Course Catalog rows include a searchable Certification Learning Path picker with Save and Unlink, so linking starts from the course.
The Learning Path list is saved and shown immediately with its last refresh time. Load from Litmos refreshes it only when needed; if Litmos is unavailable, the saved list is kept.
v2026.09.38
Learning Paths belong to courses
Each course now has one certification Learning Path, and classes inherit it from the courses they cover.
Changed
Superadmins link each course to its certification Learning Path in System, Course Catalog. A course has one path; saving replaces the previous link and Unlink removes it.
When a learner completes every current module of a course, that course's Learning Path is queued for verified Litmos assignment. Linking a course later also resolves learners waiting on it.
Training Management, Learning Paths now shows each class's inherited Learning Path per course and, with View learners, every enrolled learner's per-course status.
Removed
Per-class Learning Path alignment, the manual assign-selected-learners action, and the hourly class roster reconciliation. Existing Litmos assignments are not affected.
v2026.09.37
Learning Paths after course completion
Future Operator course completions can automatically assign the class-aligned Litmos Learning Path.
New
Completing every current Operator module queues the class-aligned Learning Path for verified Litmos assignment; quiz completion is required, while quiz score does not affect eligibility.
System Operations provides an enable switch, selectable run interval, Run Now control, status, and history. The process is disabled by default and its first activation establishes the forward-only boundary.
Training Management shows persistent assignment alerts, and affected students see an on-screen notice with retry and instructor-contact actions when no matching Litmos account exists.
Safety
Learner progress commits independently of the optional completion observer, Litmos writes stay outside the learner request, exact active-account matching and post-write verification are reused, and no historical completion scan is performed.
v2026.09.36
Check-in codes after instructor changes
Training Management keeps showing the existing check-in code when a class instructor changes.
Fixed
Class code lookup recognizes an existing code for the same Class ID and start date after an instructor change, preserving learner access and the Environments association.
Copy and code-management actions use the existing association. Ambiguous matches require review instead of selecting or generating a code.
v2026.09.35
Canonical Hub interface
The current Hub interface is now the only supported application experience.
Changed
Removed the retired Classic templates, assets, account switch, preference API, and feature-flag routing.
All authenticated Hub routes and Race Control now open their canonical responsive interface directly.
Compatibility
Classic query links redirect to the canonical Environments page instead of restoring the retired interface.
v2026.09.34
Cross-browser Hub layout repair
Classic Hub pages keep their full layout in Firefox, Chrome, and Safari.
Fixed
The Hub version footer now wraps below flex-based application pages instead of compressing the page into a narrow column in Firefox and other browsers.
v2026.09.33
Operator workspace for multi-course classes
Students enrolled through a multi-course class can open the Operator modules, labs, and quizzes.
Fixed
The Operator course workspace now recognizes an enrolled multi-course class even when Power User remains the registration's primary course.
Security
Workspace access still requires the exact enrolled student, class session, assigned instance, email, and Operator course in the saved class coverage.
v2026.09.32
Compact student banner metrics
Smaller quiz and course progress summaries keep the focus on learning.
Improved
Quiz average and course progress use compact label-and-value rows, smaller semibold numbers, and a softer banner pattern.
Fixed
The banner date now follows the same local clock as the time and greeting, instead of displaying the class date beside the current time.
v2026.09.31
Multiple instructors per class
Assign one primary and optional additional instructors without changing public registration listings.
New
Class editor supports additional instructors alongside an explicit primary. Registration shows only the primary; the student portal lists all assigned names and contacts without role labels.
Improved
Existing class instructors remain primary; student contact details refresh from current class assignments.
v2026.09.30
Match active tabs to course progress
Active banner tabs use the exact progress-bar color.
Improved
Selected banner tab text and underline now use the full administrator-selected course color for a more visible highlight.
v2026.09.29
Theme-colored active portal tabs
Active banner tabs use a darker shade of the configured course color.
Improved
Selected tab text and underline share a darkened administrator-selected hue; inactive tabs remain neutral.
v2026.09.28
Slimmer student portal banner
More room for learning content with a compact course banner.
Improved
Reduced banner padding and logo spacing on desktop and mobile while retaining title size, progress metrics and sticky navigation.
v2026.09.27
Completed modules open on quiz results
Returning to a completed module shows its saved quiz score.
Improved
On entry, completed modules with a finished quiz open Quiz; incomplete modules retain their remembered tab. Finishing a lab does not switch the active tab.
v2026.09.26
Mobile module switcher
Students can change modules from the sticky title row on mobile.
New
Clearly labeled Change module control opens a bottom sheet with existing module progress, current selection and lock states.
Improved
Mobile module tiles move into the sheet; desktop navigation and existing link behavior are preserved.
v2026.09.25
Respect intentionally blank response prompts
Empty free-text prompts render an answer field without a placeholder heading.
Fixed
Blank Short answer and Written response prompts no longer show Untitled item or a question number; accessible labels and required-state semantics remain.
v2026.09.24
Preserve module editor scroll position
Changing or removing blocks keeps authors near their working position.
Fixed
Build replacement sections off-DOM, retain current expansion state, and restore nearby block position and focus without scrolling to the top.
v2026.09.23
Editable response-group introductions
Authors can edit or remove existing introduction text in response groups.
Fixed
Expose Check your understanding and Verification introduction content in the editor; preserve casing of custom group titles.
v2026.09.22
Optional response numbering
Response blocks can hide their question number for reflections and standalone prompts.
New
Show question number setting defaults to on; turning it off keeps the prompt and answer field intact. Number-only changes preserve learner progress identity.
v2026.09.21
Optional module block headings
Authors can hide repeated block headings while keeping response fields and content visible.
New
Show block heading to students option for labeled content blocks, enabled by default.
Improved
Heading visibility alone does not change the learner progress version when published.
v2026.09.20
Insert module blocks in place
Authors can insert blocks between existing content without reordering.
New
Insert block here controls at every position, including nested groups, with the existing allowed-type picker and an SVG plus icon. New blocks open and receive focus.
v2026.09.19
SVG editor disclosure icons
Module and quiz editor sections use consistent SVG chevrons.
Improved
Replace browser disclosure triangles with current-color SVG chevrons, retaining native keyboard behavior, focus outlines and reduced-motion support.
v2026.09.18
Approved student portal design in production
The standard student portal now uses the reviewed banner and sticky navigation design.
Improved
Joined course-colored banner and sticky navigation, brighter course progress, quiz average, and compact sticky module navigation now appear on normal student pages.
Quiz average refreshes after completed quiz activity. Student responses remain editable; appearance controls and read-only restrictions remain exclusive to the preview.
v2026.09.17
Sticky module navigation in portal preview
Module tabs remain accessible below the course banner while reading.
Improved
A compact module title appears above sticky module tabs after the full heading scrolls away. Existing tab and text-size controls retain their handlers; the navigation background is opaque.
v2026.09.16
Brighter preview course progress
Course progress uses the vivid administrator-selected course color.
Improved
Use the original course accent instead of its darker hover shade for the preview progress fill.
v2026.09.15
Aligned preview learning metrics
Quiz average and course progress now align vertically in the banner.
Fixed
Matching label, value and detail rows align the two banner metrics on desktop and mobile.
v2026.09.14
Preview quiz average and course-colored progress
The student preview separates quiz performance from course completion.
New
Quiz average shows the equally weighted latest completed result per current quiz, plus completed-quiz count. Unattempted quizzes are excluded; zero scores are included.
Improved
Banner progress fill follows the darker administrator-selected course color.
Quiz average displays an empty state until a quiz is completed. An unfinished retry retains the last completed score.
v2026.09.13
Clearer preview course progress and simpler lab access
The preview emphasizes course completion while lab status continues to update automatically.
Improved
Removed Check Now from Launch Your Lab; automatic 15-second status checks remain.
The design preview presents a larger overall completion percentage with a synchronized progress bar.
v2026.09.12
Simpler preview banner tabs
The student preview uses text tabs with one active underline.
Preview
Removed active-tab pill styling and the banner bottom stripe. A subtle shadow appears only when navigation is sticky. The opaque background and continuous flag remain.
v2026.09.11
Student banner simplification and seamless preview
The compact colorful banner is now the standard student banner.
Simplified
Removed the Student banner style selector. Course colors remain administrator-controlled.
Preview
Removed the color seam between banner and tabs, extending the checkered pattern continuously behind the sticky navigation.
v2026.09.9
Joined banner and sticky tabs preview
The optional student design preview demonstrates tabs joined to the banner and retained during scrolling.
Preview
Preview tabs share the banner edge and remain below the top bar as the banner scrolls away.
Tabs share the banner gradient over an opaque base, preventing scrolling content from showing through.
v2026.09.7
More compact student banner
The colorful student banner uses less vertical space.
Improved
Reduced banner height and vertical padding while preserving course colors, flag artwork, typography and the Classic option.
v2026.09.6
Colorful student banner with Classic option
A richer course-colored gradient and subtle racing artwork brighten the student banner.
Improved
Student banners use a richer gradient, larger title, rounded corners and a slim course-color accent stripe.
Settings
Choose Classic under System, Check-In, Portal appearance to restore the previous banner. Course colors remain administrator-controlled.
v2026.09.5
Course Progress panel visibility
The Course Progress panel setting now controls Continue learning for portal courses.
Fixed
The Continue learning panel follows the administrator Course Progress visibility setting.
Portal courses display the new panel instead of the duplicate legacy progress card. Courses without a portal workspace retain their existing progress display.
v2026.09.4
Student portal Home refresh
The student Home tab adopts the reviewed layout and no longer displays the Hub version.
Improved
Home presents a Continue learning card alongside the existing lab and resource panels, retaining all configured panels and course selection.
Student check-in pages no longer display the Hub version footer.
Preserved
Course tabs and learning interactions retain their current design and behavior. Colors and appearance remain administrator-controlled.
v2026.09.3
Optional student portal design preview
A separate signed-in preview lets the new student portal layout be reviewed using current course and lab information.
New
An optional student portal design preview shows current learner progress and published course content without saving answers or submitting quizzes.
Preserved
The normal student portal remains unchanged. The preview retains administrator-configured colors, subtle racing artwork, configured Home panels, and classes containing multiple courses.
Preview controls
Light, dark, and system appearance can be compared in the preview without changing administrator settings.
v2026.09.2
Student learning visibility and Hub release tracking
Our first tracked Hub release establishes a baseline for the whole application and brings together the recent improvements to student progress, instructor controls, and course navigation.
New
Admins and instructors can view student progress across classes and modules, inspect saved lab responses and quiz results, and export filtered reports.
Admins and instructors can allow a quiz retake or restart a course module. Admins can also restart an entire course. Each restart requires a reason and records who performed it and when.
The Hub now displays its application version and provides this What's New page. Release information identifies the source commit and deployment time.
Improved
Quiz retakes keep lab work and retain the previous quiz result. Module and course restarts retain the results they reset for later review.
Labs remain editable and repeatable. Routine lab saves do not create a full revision history.
Student Progress module expand icons now use theme-aware SVG chevrons with clear open and closed states.
Scope and limitations
This is the starting baseline for Hub-wide version history. Earlier work is recorded in project history, without retroactively assigned release numbers.
Hub releases are separate from published course-content versions. Quiz and progress resets do not reset the lab environment or Litmos exams.
